ABOUT LISSA CREOLA

I graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1993 with a BFA in Acting. An actress for over 20 years, I also ran a small theatre company and was involved with producing and voice-over directing. After my daughter was born 4½ years ago, I turned my talents to writing. I have recently finished a historical novel, Autumn’s Song, which is set in the Appalachian Mountains in the 1840’s. I have also written a picture book, A Room in My Heart, for children under 6. I currently live in England with my husband and daughter.

I chose to adapt Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice because I am a huge fan of her work. Her characters are so delicious and comical! She is a genius at dialogue, and I have tried to use as much of her original words as possible. To me, it is not the story per se that makes Jane Austen’s work stand out. It is the combination of the story with her witty, satirical dialogue and her captivatingly rich characters. I have stuck to the story line as closely as possible, keeping the essence of the characters and what drives them throughout the play in the forefront. If you wish to know more or to have a copy of the play sent to you, please email me at lissacreola@yahoo.com. Royalties are based on the seating capacity of the theatre, the number of performances and the price of tickets. I look forward to hearing from you!
